Question 1

How much does dog grooming cost?

Accepted Answer

The price of grooming depends on factors including breed, size, coat type, coat condition, the service required and the amount of time involved. Rather than relying on a generic price that may not reflect your individual dog, contact our team and tell us a little about them. We can then discuss the likely service and pricing with you.

Question 2

How often should my dog be groomed?

Accepted Answer

There is no single schedule that suits every dog. Coat type, chosen style, lifestyle and the amount of maintenance carried out at home all influence how often professional grooming is needed. Our team can recommend a suitable schedule once we understand your dog and the finish you want to maintain.

Question 3

My dog is nervous about grooming. can you help?

Accepted Answer

Potentially, yes. We have considerable experience with dogs who find grooming difficult, but we prefer to understand what has happened previously before promising a particular approach. Contact us and explain what your dog struggles with so we can discuss the most appropriate next step.

Question 4

When should my puppy first visit a groomer?

Accepted Answer

We encourage early, positive introductions rather than waiting until a puppy urgently needs a complete groom. Becoming familiar with handling, salon sounds, equipment and the grooming environment while they are young can help make future visits more manageable. Speak to us about an appropriate puppy introduction.

Question 5

Do you offer hand stripping?

Accepted Answer

Yes, hand stripping is available for suitable breeds and coats. We can discuss whether it is appropriate for your individual dog when you enquire.

Question 6

Do I need previous grooming experience?

Accepted Answer

No. You are coming to professional training to learn. Previous experience can be useful, but it should not be assumed that you already know how to groom before beginning a course designed to teach you.

Question 7

Is dog grooming easy?

Accepted Answer

No, and we think prospective students deserve an honest answer to that question. Professional grooming is skilled, physical work. It requires practical ability, patience, concentration, an understanding of dogs and continued practice. That is also what makes becoming good at it so rewarding.

Question 8

Am I too old to become a dog groomer?

Accepted Answer

A career change does not have a single correct age. What matters more is whether the physical nature of the work is suitable for you, whether you are willing to learn and whether the career fits what you want from your future. If age is the thing holding you back, talk to us rather than ruling yourself out.

Question 9

Can I start my own business after training?

Accepted Answer

Some of our students go on to create businesses of their own, while others choose employment or continue building experience before taking that step. Training can give you professional grooming foundations, but running a successful business also requires commercial skills, continued development and work beyond the grooming itself.

Question 10

How much can a dog groomer earn?

Accepted Answer

There is no responsible single figure we can promise. Earnings vary considerably depending on employment or self employment, location, pricing, number of dogs groomed, working hours, overheads and how a business is run. We would rather help you understand the profession realistically than sell a course using an income promise.

Question 11

How long does it take to become a dog groomer?

Accepted Answer

That depends on the training route you choose and what you mean by becoming a groomer. A course has a defined training period, but professional development continues long after qualification. Your speed, confidence and skill will keep improving as you gain experience.

Question 12

What qualification will I receive?

Accepted Answer

The exact qualification depends on the course selected. The live website should list the confirmed qualification against each course so that you can see exactly what you are working towards before enrolling.

Question 13

How much does the training cost?

Accepted Answer

Our professional training represents a significant investment because it is designed to prepare you for a skilled career. Current course fees and exactly what is included should be clearly shown on the relevant course page or confirmed by our team before you enrol.

Question 14

Can I visit before I decide?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In fact, we encourage you to speak to us and understand the environment before making a significant training decision. Liza's advice is simple: come and spend time with me. Ask your questions, see where you would be learning and decide whether The Pet Studio feels right for you.
